March 10, 2014
On Friday, March 7, 2014 the Nova Scotia Environment Review Panel issued their recommendation report on the proposed Goldboro LNG project to Honorable Minister of the Environment, Randy Delorey. The Panel recommends that the project should be approved, subject to the terms and conditions recommended by the panel in the report.
The report will now be reviewed by Minister Delorey and a final decision is expected by the end of March.
Over the past year, Pieridae has implemented a comprehensive consultation and engagement program for the Goldboro LNG project, and are thankful for the support received. The environmental assessment report includes the feedback and input received, and a thorough assessment and analysis of the potential effects on the environment. The report generally concludes that with the proposed comprehensive environmental management, mitigation, and compensation, adverse effects will be largely localized, short-term and reversible, and that none of the directly affected areas are considered critical habitat for Species at Risk. Pieridae looks forward to receiving and reviewing the Minister of Environment’s decision.
